Spanish tutor

You don’t need “talent” to learn a new language.

You just need a good teacher.

Questions

The honest answer is: it depends on how much time and effort you’re willing to invest. Your progress will depend on how regularly you attend lessons, whether you do your homework, and how much Spanish you bring into your everyday life. The more you practice, the faster you’ll progress!

But here’s the good news: you’ll start speaking Spanish from your very first lessons. Of course, we’ll begin with simple, basic conversations, but you won’t have to wait months before you can start using the language.

With two lessons a week, many students can start expressing themselves on simple, everyday topics within 2–3 months. You’ll be able to introduce yourself, describe people, talk about your family and work, and share a little about your hometown or country.

Of course, everyone learns at their own pace, and these are just general guidelines, not a deadline you need to meet.

The Instituto Cervantes provides estimated learning hours for different levels of Spanish. Here’s a general overview:

LevelWhat you can doHours in total
A1BeginnerYou can introduce yourself, understand simple questions, and order a coffee.60–80 h60–80 h
A2ElementaryYou can talk about everyday life and understand simple texts.160–200 h+100–120 h
B1IntermediateYou can travel, communicate in everyday situations, and understand much of what you hear in films with subtitles.310–380 h+150–180 h
B2Upper-intermediateYou can communicate more fluently, use Spanish at work, watch films without subtitles more comfortably, and read books.510–630 h+200–250 h
C1AdvancedYou can use Spanish confidently across a wide range of situations, including academic and professional contexts.750–930 h+240–300 h

And remember, you don’t need to reach an advanced level to start enjoying Spanish! You can have your first conversations, connect with Spanish speakers, and use what you learn in real life long before that.
